Rome (Reuters) - The Vatican said on Friday that Pope Francis will travel to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, East Timor, and Singapore from the 2nd to the 13th of September.
According to the Vatican statement, the Pope will visit Jakarta from the 3rd to the 6th of September, Port Moresby and Vanimo from the 6th to the 9th of the same month, and Dili from the 9th to the 11th of September, followed by Singapore from the 11th to the 13th of September. The statement did not mention Vietnam, which the Pope and Vatican officials had suggested as a possible destination on the Asian tour.
The tour is expected to be demanding for the 87-year-old Pope, who has recently faced health issues that forced him to cancel some of his engagements, including some Easter activities last month.
